Flags & Warning Lights

At Kylemore Karting we make customer safety our priority, so, during your visit to our karting centre, you will notice that we use a number of flags and warning lights to make you aware of situations on the track. It is important that you understand what each of the flags/lights mean. Don’t worry, we cover these signals during your safety briefing prior to racing, but here they are for your reference:

THE GREEN LIGHT

The green light is used to start your race or heat. Once you see the green light, put the pedal to the metal and race away!

THE RED FLAG/LIGHT

The red flag/light means the race or heat has come to an end. You should slow down to a walking pace and return to the pits, bringing your kart to a controlled stop keeping your foot on the brake. Stay in your kart and wait for further instructions.

THE YELLOW FLAG/LIGHT

The yellow flag/light means there is an incident ahead, slow down to a walking pace and do not overtake. Stay in your current positions and drive very slowly around the track. Be aware that there may be an obstruction on the track you will need to drive around. Track Marshals may also be on the track, so maintain a slow speed until the light switches off.

THE BLUE FLAG/LIGHT

The blue flag/light is used to indicate that a faster driver is trying to pass you. In race conditions, this means the race leader is about to lap you. You should pull to the side or move off the racing line, allow the faster driver to pass and then move back on to the racing line to continue your race.

THE BLACK FLAG

The black flag is used to disqualify drivers for inappropriate conduct. We have a list of track rules that we expect all drivers to uphold. Any customers that ignore the rules will be removed from the track.

THE CHEQUERED FLAG

The chequered flag is used to indicate you have finished your final lap and are at the end of your session, heat or event. You should continue driving competitively until you pass the chequered flag and cross the finish line. Once you have crossed the finish line, you should return to the pit lane at a walking pace, bringing your kart to a controlled stop keeping your foot on the brake.

Pre-booking is essential to reserve your preferred time on the track. Bookings can be made on our website, by emailing info@kylemorekarting.ie or by phoning our booking line on (01) 6261444 where a member of the team will be happy to help.
